Larry Archer

December 18, 1942 — May 22, 2024

Larry passed away peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital in Hamilton on May 22, 2024 at the age of 81, following a sudden leukemia diagnosis in April 2023.

Beloved husband of Marilyn for 52 years and cherished father of Kristin (Kristi). Dear son of the late W. Max and Marion Archer, of Thorndale, Ontario, and dear brother of his twin sister Carol Gaspari (nephews Grant and Greg), sister Maryll Rosheim (nephew Elliot), and the late Glenn Archer (nephew Steven). Dear son-in-law of the late Charlie and Josie Skeates.

A graduate of Western University, Larry began his teaching career in 1966, joining the science department at the former Scott Park Secondary School in Hamilton. Respected and well-liked by colleagues and students, Larry enjoyed teaching biology, physics, and chemistry, as well as coaching football, volleyball, and basketball, prior to retirement in 1998.

Always young at heart, Larry thoroughly enjoyed the latest pop culture, movies, books, sports, music, theatre, games, and nature walks. If life is about contentment, Larry was always fulfilled with his happy home life.

With courage and a cheerful heart, Larry accepted the last fourteen months with dignity. Our gratitude to the medical teams and nurses at C4 Hematology at Juravinski Hospital and St. Peter’s Hospital.

In keeping with Larry’s wishes, cremation has taken place, entrusted to P.X. Dermody Funeral Home. If desired, donations can be made to Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre Foundation.

Privileged to share this lifetime together, Larry is in our hearts forever.
