David Michael Daley, born in Oakville, Ontario on December 25th 1947 aged 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday August 31st at St. Catherine’s General Hospital surrounded by his loving grandchildren after a strong fought battle with cancer. Widowed to his wife Verda, Dave leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Sabrina (Johnny), James (Danielle), Joey, Kayla, and Kristen, as well as great grandchildren Aubree, Luca, Lily, Colton, and Joey who were truly a joy to his life. He took immense pride in watching them grow, sharing in their accomplishments, and guiding them with wisdom and love. He was the best Papa we could ever have asked for. Dave will also be forever missed by Nelson, Debra, Rachel, Adam, Jim, his dog Pixie, and the rest of his Dunnville family. Dave will be remembered for his strength. He was a man who overcame the odds time and time again. Beating cancer and many ailments, many believed Dave was immortal. Nothing could bring him down. He was the strongest person many have ever had the joy of meeting. Every battle he faced, he did it with a smile and humour right up until his last breath. Dave’s ability to put a smile on the faces of everyone around him even on his last days was truly a gift. Dave was a simple man. All he needed was his family, friends, and a few fishing rods. It brings us happiness knowing that he spent his latter years fishing and out on the boat every day he possibly could. Dave was a man who lived his life on his terms. He did whatever he wanted to do. He didn’t care what others had to think or say as long as he was happy. He was always sure to preach that to the people around him and we are forever grateful. Dave, a father figure to many, was one of the most kindhearted, genuine, funny people you could ever have the chance to meet. He would do anything for the people he loved. He cherished the ones around him and showed that every single day. His humour and wisdom will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy of love, kindness, and strength will live on in the hearts of his grandchildren and everyone whose lives he touched. A special thanks to all the nurses and doctors at St. Catherine’s General Hospital for keeping Dave and his family comfortable through this difficult time. We will love you forever Papa. Until we meet again.
